Wipers working the opposite way

Post by laalves911 »

Hi all,

Wipers stopped working and after a lot of troubleshooting and an attempt to repair the faulty BSI, I caved got a BSI from a dismantler in Germany in ebay, and had it recoded.

In the meantime, I figured since while I was at it, I might as well replace the wiper motor since it have caused the problem by going bad. The BSI came from the recoding service and... the wipers work in reverse, i.e, the first movement is going down against the hood instead of up. I've removed the motor/linkage assembly sevral times now, trying to figure out what I did wrong and for the life of me I can't. Then I thought, maybe the new motor is wired wrong, so I ended up refurbishing the old motor (opened motr and transmission, cleaned re-lubbed), putting it back and the same, wipers go down first, then up, as if the the parking position would be up.

What can I be doing wrong? Would a BSI from a RHD car work like this? Mine is LHD. The donor car was supposedly German so it should be LHD as well. Could I have reversed the linkage? I've tried several different starting positions for the linkage and it's always the same.

I'm at a loss...

I don't know if this is possible, but one explanation could be that the linkage has been reversed in changing the motor. See if the linkage attachment to the motor can be "reversed" - maybe over rather than under - something like that.
