Chrome Hoop bars fitted

Post by Johnnyb60 »

Hi,
As the weather's slowly turning for the better ,what better time than to replace the black plastic hoop bars for the Chrome ones I acquired from a local scrapped 206 cc.
I think I paid a fiver for them and they look brand new.
It was a nice and easy job to swap them over.
Hood down and then undo the two nuts that secure the rear seat base.
With the seat base out there's another two nuts that secure the back seats.Once there out you can get access to the nuts that secure the hoop bars.
Whilst everything was out I gave the area a good clean and vacuum and after taking the drain plugs out from underneath the seat squabs I was surprised to see how much muck was behind them. A bit of a mud trap between them and the fuel tank underneath.
A good vacuuming cleared it all up and then I got some wax oyl in there for good measure before replacing the drain plugs.
With the new Chrome hoops in and seats back in place I gingerly closed the roof praying they wouldn't smash the rear window.
Phew a sigh of relief when it shut without any dramas.
I think the Chrome Hoops add a bit of quality to the little car.and are more pleasing to the eye.
The scrap car I got them from, you could tell someone else prior to me had there eye on them but couldn't get them out.
The rear seats were removed and the bolts to the hoops were undone, but then realized the top had to be dropped to get them out and gave up.
The obviously didn't know how to manually lower the roof and walked away from it
Luckily I did and managed to grab myself a bargain
All the very best
