Manual operation of roof.

Post by DianesPITA »

Hi so this is the main short term problem I would like some help with...I have done some research and it seems like we have a parcel shelf cord missing.

Can I just get some cord tie it on and hey presto. If so where does it attach too?

Car is new to us and roof and some windows do not work. Would like to lower and raise roof manually for now. Having looked at videos and forums I can get to the stage where the roof goes down but finally the latch either side does not catch on.

I think this is.because we do not have a cord.to pull the parcel shelf down. I have tried manually to do this with no luck. Also noticed there is an oil leak from the same actuator. Another problem which I have found a mexican you tube vid on to repair.

Question is where do I attach a cord too to make life easier in the future? Many thanks Clive.

Ps don't see how to attach images.

Later cars do not have the cord, and the fitting to take the cord is not there. The plastic moulding was not altered by the change, so it looks like the cord is missing. Instead, you are supposed to use the tool in the tyre foam box to poke into the hole. It is documented in the owners manual of the appropriate year (mine was a 2005). I tried it, but could not make it work. Good luck.
