Roof pump oil
Roof pump oil
Hi could some1 point me in the right direction for correct fluid I need for roof pump plz, thank you
Re: Roof pump oil
Peugeot Service Box specifies ARAL VITAMOL ZMH type oil.
I can't find this anywhere, but there is a hydraulic oil specification SAE-ZHM, so I think Service Box may contain a typo.
However, see this post: http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=12143

Re: Roof pump oil
This is the one I'm pretty sure.

I found some on Amazon a month or so ago, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore.

Re: Roof pump oil
I've been hunting around the interwebz for what I can use that's not OEM and impossible to get here in Oz.
According to the links above, it would seem like any power steering/hydraulic fluid that conforms to ISO 7308 would do the trick.
CHF 11S seems to be a recurring reference as well.
This stuff:

Covers both standards.
Tell me I'm wrong before I start to use it!!

Re: Roof pump oil
IMO Batso, you could be wrong. The fluid that you have found seems to be for power steering. Have a look at this Oz web site, they have the Aral stuff listed. www.lubricants-ils.com.au
Re: Roof pump oil
Yeah after further investigation, I've revised my statement.
I'm going to ASSUME the reference to ZMH is a typo, and they really mean ZHM (or ZH-M)
The other ZH-M stuff apparently conforms to the MB 343.0 standard for Mercedes ride leveling systems, and is used by a number of different manufacturers for roof hydraulics as well.
So, theoretically, anything else that confirms to Mercedes ride leveling standards SHOUD be ok.
Penrite MB15, for example, is a bit more obtainable here.
I'll do a bit more research before committing, though.
Edit - just talked to my local hydraulics place, they agreed with the "typo" theory above. Especially consisting that many others use ZHM...
Further edit - I found a website for a bunch in oregon that specialises in hydraulic convertibles (top hydraulics). I shot them an email asking the question, and the guy responded saying that ZHM is the correct fluid spec.
So I'm a fair bit more comfortable with using the Penrite MB15.
Now all I gotta do is refresh the seals. Does anybody do a seal kit?
