Roof won't go down

Post by markpri001 »

Hi,
I have tried to look at my neice's 206 cc roof. I have found that after the windows go down there is a noise like the motor is running but nothing happens. Then I get beeping-presumably a time out. Everything looks fine. Not sure if it is the actuators not moving. I have checked the hydraulic resevoir and it looks ok. My nephew moved the screw on the hydraulic reservoir more than a quarter of a turn- could this be the problem?
Also the white u shaped brackets in the boot- not sure what position they should be in?
Not sure what to try next. Buzzed the microswitches that I could see and all seemed ok.
Any help much appreciated. I see on the Forum Planet seems to be used.
Thanks,

Mark

That screw releases the hydraulic pressure. If it is not tightly closed, that would account for your symptoms.

The white clips are shown in the handbook. If you don't have a copy, go to http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/APddb/, choose English (top right) and then car and time bracket.

Hi
I had problems previously with my hood not closing..
Best thing to do is open the boot turn the white u clips to manual mode, make sure you tighten the with the allen key so its pressured, then go in the car and operate the button to open hood, then close.
I had a problem where i stopped the hood from closing to clean the boot groove.
if you manage to close the hood dont forget to return the white u clips to auto..

Hope this helps.

Thanks that is very helpful. I will try this - not sure though what position is automatic and manual mode though- the manual picture is very old!
thanks,
Mark

As I understand it, putting the white clips to manual is only to get the roof back up by hand, because the power operated catches are not functioning. It is not used to get it to come down under power.

Hi
No put white clips to manual and operate the hood switch, you will find it will continue the closing process.
it will look as though its not doing anything until the rams find the last point it was stopped at.
It didnt finish the closure completely did it?
This will work.. it worked for me..

Steve,

I'm sure what you say is correct for closing the roof, but Mark is trying to open it.

Hi
Try and manually put the roof into close position , then remove the large green fuse which resets the hood. then from there leave the white u clips to manual and operate the button to close..
it may sound and nothing is happening until it gets into positon of the last time it was working correctly..
and it should close.
If this dont work i think you are going to have to take it to the Dealers im afraid..

Best of luck

I don't think that's right. When Mark operates the control to lower the roof, the windows go down. That would not happen unless the roof was correctly in the closed position. It is being interrupted in the opening cycle, because the hydraulic rams are not operating when they should.

Just had another think, and if the problem is not the pump pressure release, it could be the "electrically-operated valve", described in this video https://youtu.be/CUk3RKVRfVU, malfunctioning, and not raising the "parcel shelf".

I recall that someone had this problem - he removed the solenoid part of the valve unit, tried it with a separate power supply, saw that it worked, re-installed it, and the problem was cured. We surmised that it had stuck, but the removal and testing had unstuck it.
