Roof works but will not complete cycle

Post by Yrrag_lean »

Hi all first post, have read all relivant posts but can't find a solution. 206 cc 1.6 2001 manual, roof works great but don't give dong to say it's finished the cycle, connected pp2000 fault codes saying there is a short to positive, disconnected all the micro switches still says the same thing, checked visually the wiring all looks very good, could it be the roof ecu at fault, best regs gaz

If the only problem is the lack of dong, does it dong when you release the catches with the ignition on? If not, it may simply be a defective "donger".

Hi thanks for reply, tested the dong in pp2000 and works fine, disconnected all 11 micro switches and pp2000 is telling me open circuit or short to earth could it be faulty roof ecu, regs gaz.

I suppose if you are confident about the wiring, and the switches were disconnected, the Roof ECU is all that is left. Perhaps you can borrow one from someone nearby? If not, a scrapyard or EBay.

If it is working OK except for the final bong, I would not worry about it. You may make things worse!
Ours doesn't always bong at the end of the cycle, but works perfectly without.
Cheers Col.

Its happened to me too a few times. You sit there like a lemon - waiting - waiting - wondering what you've done wrong. Will it ever work again? Dong or no dong, it always seems to work.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Does this happen on every operation of the roof? I know that sometimes (normally on lowering but has happened on raising as well) I will not get the dong on completion. As I'm rather paranoid I normally raise and lower (or visa versa) again and it hasn't failed to give the confirmation sound the second time. May be worth a shot?

Maybe it refuses to dong if the operation was a bit slow. Try lubricating the hinges, etc and see if that makes a difference.

Yes stripped plastic trunking off all of it no breaks and if u put a volt meter on the boot switch I am getting a osilating current which comes from the roof ecu with ignition on

Not the ecu changed it and just the same, then decided it must be wiring, hey Preston two broken wires from rear boot lid harness where it bends, works perfect now and got a spare roof ecu if any one wants it, many thanks for all suggestions best regs gaz
