i have a 2002 Peugeot 206 cc 2 litre
i bought the car a week ago the battery doesn't keep charge and when i start it up the stop lights flashes the central locking doesn't work and when on tick over it revs 2000 rpm then back down to 1000 revs and so on keeps on doing it and if you put the main beam on the hazard light comes on and the dials go all funny and the convertible top wants to come down and the interior lights go off and it cuts out and when i try and start it up it just makes a clicking noise any idea what the problem is and how to fix it thanks

Hi James,
Killer first post. Would recommend the occasional full stop (".") or comma (",") in there at some point buddy! That is a little difficult to read through.
So you bought the car a week ago, right? You say the battery is doesn't keep charge. So you know your problem right there. Just keep scratching them off the list.
Step one is to source a good working battery. Make sure it's the correct height - CC batteries are taller than hatchback batteries (albeit same specification). You can use base plate (such as a piece of wood) to make up the difference. Batteries are well documented across the forum.
So, replace the battery. Check that the connection terminals are clean as you do this. Check the earth cable on each end.
Then check that your alternator is charging your battery. A battery at rest, i.e. ignition off, should show 12.6v or a bit more if healthy. A charging battery, i.e. engine running, should show around 14.5v.
Good luck.

Re: electrical problem
Agreed. It may sound surprising, but the Peugeot electrics are very susceptible to low voltage, and the symptoms can be many and varied.
It is important to follow the correct procedure when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
Once the power supply quality is assured, if any problems persist, that is the time to put the Peugeot Planet 2000 diagnostic system to work. You can buy it on EBay or elsewhere, or get someone who has it to help.
