Hi, I had a breakdown and rescue just came and said my car battery was flat so he put a new one in while the engine and all lights were still on.
Rescue left and i tried to turn off all and start again. Car started but high beam wouldn't turn off. Now drove home parked outside but high beam still on. Neighbour was concerned and knocking my door. I think it has to do with the computer reset. The display on the dashboard not showing time or temperature anymore.
Could you tell me how to turn the high beam off? I have tried whatever way i know. It's annoying and my new battery may go flat again.
Please help. Thank you.
Kristine

You need to try a BSI reboot.

What sort of idiot changes the battery with the engine running? BSI may be goosed. If the reset doesn't work, I would be seeking repair costs from breakdown co.
BTW your alternator may also have suffered.
Ian- FYI BSI reset procedure is also on our site.http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic ... 23&t=13473

Re: High Beam wont turn off after rescue changed battery
Thank you Capncol I did ask the rescue man from Green Flag if it is safe to change battery while the car was still running He said it's fine. I asked the man to call me back why the high beam wouldn't go off. He said it could be electrical problem and asked me to ring rescue to lodge another breakdown.
Second man came and said the light stalk is slightly broken that's why not switching the high beam off. He disconnected the battery to switch off the lights and told me to go to local garage to get it fixed the next day.
Haven't got the chance to go to garage yet. I'll look into reset the display. Thank you. Kristine
One last thing, i was reading the BSI reset.
7. Switch on the ignition and check system’s functionality.
8. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds. ( Do you mean the ignition key? Do i hold the lock button on key while the car is running per step 7 ?)
I haven't done this before and appreciate if you could clarify on this so i can try tomorrow. Thank you. Good night. Kristine

Headlight stalk doesn't explain this though! .....And how can it be "slightly broken"? It's either broken or it's not!
Cheers Col.

I must say i couldn't feel the difference but the blue head lights sign is on all time and i tried the usual way to push up or down, no response; but the indicators still work fine.

Step 7 means check all the switchable services, e.g. lights, heater fan, screen wash, wipers, radio....convertiblefan wrote: One last thing, i was reading the BSI reset.

Step 8 is to resync the remote locking (only required if the remote locking isn't working). It is done with the ignition on. The engine is not on. It does not get started until Step 10.
Btw, you can open the door once the ignition has been turned on in Step 7. Once the engine is running, you should also check roof open and close. I think it unwise to operate the roof with the engine off.
