Morning all. After some insight regarding the top shock mounts, please. Not a job I’ve encountered before in all honesty.
Had wheel alignment done on my wife’s CC over the weekend and they’ve advised that the tracking isn’t performing as desired on account of the top mounts being worn and should be replaced. Sounds fair enough, I’ll replace them if that’s the case
When I look for replacement parts I seem to be able to find either an entire new assembly inc top bearing, or just a bearing ring. I’m not sure which bit it is I need to replace.
I get the impression the bearing ring on the driver’s side at least is certainly goosed as I can feel the spring’s motion is not smooth.
What I don’t know or understand is if there is anything in the actual assembly that would make me want to replace the entire thing over and above just the bearing.
Is there some form or bushing or anything up top there? I can’t see anything obvious so don’t know if there is anything hiding underneath there not visible to the naked eye. I suppose there probably is given the single pivot point wanting to draw an arch? If it’s something I can inspect pre-replacement I’d like to know how.
Need to make sure I buy the right parts to do the job.
Cheers, Ben

As you are getting into CCs with a vengeance now .. and believe me a couple of years and your do really want to take revenge on someone or something .. you might want to get yourself a login on servicebox http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/pa ... creAccueil which is Peugeot's online parts system and shows you most of the parts and how they breakdown, etc.
You can access it free-of-charge too .. sometimes the Peugeot Parts Desk get a little sniffy if you ring them with a part number but I tell them I found it on the internet and want them to double check beforehand .. nicely! Usually works .. plus you could be surprised that often Peugeot are cheaper than fleabay!!
But it gives you stuff like this ..
And using your VIN number, targets the actual parts not the range ..
Gary
PS I take it you are Artemis on the AlfaOwner forums too
Yeah, I'm there too!

Cheers Gary
Getting into CCs with a vengeance whether I wanted to or not. Wife crashed it on Friday after a couple of weeks of ownership. This resulted in the steering getting knocked out of whack, a dent in the front wing and the bushings in the front off side lower control arm 'bursting' from their mountings. It was worn anyway so was on the replacement list - just a bit sooner than expected!
So ended up replacing the OSF control arm and taking it for tracking. Now the NSF tracking won't come into line and it has a slight left pull to it. Kwikfit say this is top mount related.
I'm not entirely convinced but knowing that the bearing is gone in the OSF anyway I might as well take the pain here and now and replace.
The bit i'm not sure about is whether there is anything like a rubber bush in the top bracket, item 6, in the image. If there is, then may as well replace. If there isn't anything but metal up there i'll inspect, clean, lubricate and proceed with replacing just the bearing.
I've ordered all the bits up to do the entire job seeing as Eurocarparts launched another one of their sales! Think they hold approximtely 365 sales a year that place. Got the top mounts and bearings for £44. If I dont use or need any of the bits I can let them keep them as I've not paid yet!
Yes I am the same from Alfaowner. Not been on there recently to be honest as I'm currently Alfaless since selling the wife's 147. Not used to these single suspension arm jobbies as I always worked on 147s and 156s. Only car it would have been applicable to was my GTV and I didn't have to do any suspension work on that.
Currently have an Audi A8 - which I may well part company with - a Fiat Stilo Abarth (2.4L) and the wife's CC. The Abarth was the wifes but she needs to commute now. I like the Abarth too much to sell so may move the Audi on.

Just to add to Gary's suggestion:
The online Service Box charges pay-per-view for access to the Repair Procedures, which are very detailed and well-illustrated. You can see some of them by clicking "206cc Repair Guide" from the Portal of this site, but it is not comprehensive and the indexing is hard to fathom.
You can install the Service Box and SEDRE (wiring diagrams) by either buying disks on EBay (I have found them a bit iffy) or you can get the whole shebang (for all Peugeots), by choosing any vehicle here, which I highly recommend.

Did you fit the better GTI arms when you put them one? We had the heavier 2.0 lump and it ate the standard bushes within 6 months ..
We're down to one Alfa, the MiTo, as the 156 is going to start a new life in Cumbria soon, and my daughter p/x's the CC for a '10 plate Mini Cooper Convertible. So that leaves me poodling around in the Pug 1.4 hdi until a ship docks in the NE and regurgitates a new car in time for the '17 plates!
More on that in March (I'm having to wait so you all can too!

Practically I dont know what the difference is between a standard arm and the GTI arm, however when purchased I was told there was two options and I said I wanted the GTI spec version, so fingers crossed that is what I've got!gazza82 wrote:Did you fit the better GTI arms when you put them one? I hope you're not getting a Guilia - I really want one of them in RWD 1750TBi type of thing. I think the QV will be out of my price range somehow!

Standard arms have all rubber bushes. GTI have more metal so they are stiffer and last longer ...
Giulia comes in 2 litre minimum .. and no. Not at £29k base ...
