Oil pressure insufficient
Hi all, I had my car serviced about six months ago. After the service I noticed that the oil warning and stop lights would flash on occasionally. I couldn't read the fault screen as one of the backing lights has blown and it flashed on and off very quickly but I guessed from past experience that the oil level was low. I checked but this seemed fine. Because the light only flashed on intermittently I kind of ignored the problem and figured that it was a borderline issue. However the problem continued and would tend to get worse at speed. I topped up the oil a few times but this didn't seem to help. I had to do a 600 mile drive a few weeks ago to visit my mum for her 90th birthday and, as I had my son with me, I asked him to read the fault screen. It was oil pressure insufficient. The warning lights still only flashes on and off rather that display constantly but I now realise, perhaps too late, that it shouldn't be ignored. As I am half deaf it is impossible for me to tell if there are any nasty noises caused by this problem. Are there any common problems that I could quickly check for and could, perhaps, have been activated when the car was serviced? I am fairly useless at anything mechanical but any pointers would be gratefully received.

Re: Oil pressure insufficient
Cheap oil filters can collapse. I would check that first.
Cheers Col.

Re: Oil pressure insufficient
I agree with Capncol, change the oil filter for the genuine Peugeot one. No need to change the oil again (unless it is due, or you suspect the wrong grade has been used).
Let us know how you get on.
