Brakes

Post by briandk »

Hi there
anyone help with a brake problem on my 2005 1600cc 206cc, that has me and two garages baffled -
When you apply pressure to brake pedal the brakes operate but pedal keeps on depressing (not quite to floor)
A pump or two brings the pedal up to normal.
My 1st assumption - air in system!! checked and found no leaks in wheel cylinders or pipes - no loss of fluid. Next I replaced servo, inc air valve and master cylinder - bled brakes a number of times. but Brake problem still the same.
In frustration took it to garage who also have bled system multiple times, replaced master cylinder, checked & rechecked system, and after two weeks still haven't found the fault.
Any Ideas ???
Thanks
Brian

You may have a seized caliper, pads seized in the carrier, or seized handbrake adjuster. I would go around each caliper in turn and make sure the pads are free to move and the caliper sliding pins move freely. You mave have an indication of a seizure by uneven wear on the pads.
