Re: Oil Grade
Personally I wouldn't with winter approaching. But if you're changing it every year or 10k and use a genuine filter then I don't think it would do any harm.
My daughter's 207 is using oil too but we've stuck with the correct grade and just top it up every 3 months or so. I think the previous owner probably took the 20,000 miles or 2 years service interval too literally - too long in my opinion. I suspect the rings are gummed up. It runs ok though, with no blue smoke.

Re: Oil Grade
I would switch to 0w40. Less oil pressure at start up & the oil will flow better when cold. Sync of course.
Cheers,
Iain.

Re: Oil Grade
Why is less oil pressure at start up an advantage? I would have thought it a disadvantage.

Re: Oil Grade
Hi,
The oil pump would be able to pump more oil at startup, so the oil pressure would be less.
The other extreme would be very thick oil; You would have high oil pressure and no flow.
If your oil pressure drops while driving, that's a different matter.
I hope that explains my statement.
Cheers,
Iain.

Re: Oil Grade
85k isn't high mileage ... Just run in
I didn't even change my Alfa at 150k to thicker 10w60 oil as some suggested ...
Still running on 10w40 at 204,795 miles ...
