NEWBIEEEE!!! Hi x

Post by Justfayelouise »

Have often Google stuff to do with 206cc and always come across this forum so thought I would join! In female and own a 2 litre 206cc in blue! Love it and it's the best run around but I have one issue when I purchased the car wheel lock but key missing...now I went to a dealer in Chiswick who didn't seem to care and he sent me another 20 mins drive to the after sales care centre... Got there explained I lost the LWN was told "no problem at All pop across to te parts area and u can get a replacement" great I thought easy nah ah!!! Got in there yet again for 3rd time repeated myself and NOPE we don't do replace ones go back to main reception  at this point I was annoyed as being send back and forwards and nobody seemed to have a clue!! Anyway had to sit and wait for an "specialist advisor" to speak with me YET AGAIN!! Explained what was wrong and he said we can only get you booked you in and we have to remove the nuts LoL!!! Oookay I'm guessing me being female he thought he could feed me some crap! I asked how much for that job he got his calculator out lol... I nearly fell off my chair!! £45 per NUT!!! 4 in each wheel so 4x180 u get where I'm going.. That's not includingabour so all in all he quotes me around 680 for the job  and added in some scary chat like no one else can do the job they wil damage ur wheels even break the nut and then it's worse! LOL!!!! Anyone else had this issues with lost wheel lock nut tool? My opinion of peugeot there to robbing bastards and the "aftercare" well there really isn't any!

Ask a mechanical friend to barney butcher your studs off. It can be done, it can be difficult. Welcome to the forum.

I replaced all my daughter's 207 locking wheel nuts. You can hammer on an undersize socket but it seems to only work once (per socket) and took me half a day. Welcome to the forum.

I have a special set of sockets for undoing locking wheel nuts so they aren't the specialist they make themselves out to be.

I would check on fleabay first before going to Halfrauds. Halfrauds tools have been good quality from my experience.

Although a bit over-priced now.

justoffbase tools are a good source if buying from internet

WWhat does the locking nut look like (Is it a genuine set with 4 pins?) where are you and are you in the AA?

The garage I work at and the AA use a removal tool called a 'Dynomec' locking wheel nut removal tool that will get any wheel nut off.

If your in the AA I expect it would be free but we charge £50 a set as it takes about 1/2 hour to do and kill's a part of the tool that needs to be replaced for every set removed.

Another option is a guy on ebay who has a program that can work out the removal tool from a picture but he doesnt list Peugeot: http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/starskyx5

Does anyone still steal alloy wheels ?
Just go for a set of plain nuts....no more problems.

I wondered this, or is it because of the locking nuts no one bothers.

My 206cc is 12 years old.....so are the alloys.
Don't think anyone in their right mind would want to steal them.
I guess you have to balance up area/location, age of car and where it's parked/garaged.
I think if I had a problem I'd just replace with plain, however if your replacing with new
locking nuts I guess you shouldn't have any problems, they are new !!!!!!
