Newbie issues

Post by tyger »

Hi all , i am new to the Peugeot 206 but i'm learning fast ! I have 2 issues i'm hoping somebody can help me with . I have recently purchased a 2002 206 cc , 2.0 petrol , manual . Firstly , the airbag light has come on the dash and every time i start the car i get an 'airbag fault ' warning on the central display . I dont know if it came on because i've been moving the seats back and forward or when the battery died . But i have bought and fitted a new battery , using the methods posted by Capncol . Many thanks for those ! But now having tried to reset the BSI it is still happening . Any ideas ? Also , while fixing a rear window that wasn't going all the way back up i undid the bolt holding the drivers seat belt tensioner . Now the unit no longer reaches back to its rightful position . How do i release more belt from the tensioner without taking it all apart ? Many thanks in advance , if anyone can help i will be truly grateful :)

If you have moved the seats to and fro, it's worth checking the plugs under the seat. Seperate & reconnect them a few times, then see if light still on.
Second thing is the wiring to the seatbelt unit you removed.

If the reel is mounted correctly, it should unwind without issue. Are you saying it is jamming, or working normally, but not letting out enough webbing?
Cheers Col.

Hiya Col . thanx for the help . I'm gonna go check the plugs under the seats shortly . The problem with the seat belt is that i need to relase more of the webbing for the unit to reach back where it belongs . Gonna try plugging the wire back on and turning on the ignition to see if that helps ? Or would that cause another error ? Thanx in advance :D

Seatbelt wire needs to be connected or you will get airbag faults.

I too have the warning light problem.I intend to remove the green connector under the passenger seat and solder the wires together. There is also a grey connector under there with no connections. What is this for? Under the drivers seat there is the same empty grey connector and also a white connector.I say connector but only a single male plug with two wires goes into it.What is this for and can it cause a problem? From memory green plug part of airbag/SRS system. Think grey plug may be unused.

Without checking wiring diagrams, maybe seat occupancy?

Ref white connector going nowhere,I noticed three very neat hard wire connections covered in shrink insulation so that is why there is no green connector. Will do same job under passenger seat but the white plug remains a mystery.Don't think its seat uccupancy under drivers seat.

Has the drivers seatbelt stalk got a wire coming out of it? I'm sure that it has a white plug.
Cheers Col.
