New Window Switch Ghost Electrical Problems

Post by tyealia »

New Switch for Windows- So I have been battling trying to get a new switch for my side windows. I think condensation or a spilled drink :P may have broken the switches ability to lower the driver side window, i can do all functionality with all windows but lower it. So I ordered a piece from a scrappy

My version is 2005 206cc
scrappy was 2008 206cc, the switch almost worked EXCEPT some weirdness.
Also had bought a new switch of unknown year

Weirdness
1. Only lowers or raises the window COMPLETELY, no half way or a bit, once you push the switch your all in.
2. all windows lower when you turn on the car and release the brake, or clutch
3. all windows lower when you turn the car off, as soon as key is turned to off all windows lower

This has driven me mad, is it a ghost switch? I also ordered another one from a different 2008 and same problem. I can only find a 2003 scrappy im going to maybe order that one and hope it works. Looks like after 2005 they changed the switch type ever so slightly? Beats me Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

Here is a video of the problem I took

Bump

I tried buying another switch from a regular 206 this time and still same problem. Anyone know anything about this?

I am guessing that any switch after 2005, 2006 or 2007 is new with some small detail that causes this problem because the one I put in is a 2008 and it has this same issue. Maybe someone on the forum knows more, im debating getting one from a 2003 scrappy I have found as a next step

I'm not convinced the fault is with the switch. It could be BSI or Roof ECU. I agree with Bertie1- Auto electrician time.

What happens with the switch disconnected?
Cheers Col.

Went to an electrician and he told me that the switch simply wasent the same it looked almost exactly the same had the same amount of pins on it but was different.

So looks like im screwed I have been through 3 switches now, all after 2005, my last hope is a switch pre 2005 for the cc
