How to reset 206cc 54 plate key fob after changing battery

hey there changed my battery on my 206cc 54 plate key fob and was wondering what the process is to reprogram the key to the car as when i lock the car if i press lock again i hear a click but nothing happens but when i reopen the car with the open button it stops responding for a while (all starts ok though) any ideas or is this just normal? i did read something about 2 presses of the lock button sets the deadlock? any advice would be appreciated.

The keyfob has a transponder chip inside it. I hope it hasn't fallen out while you'd got the key apart, else the car won't start.

If the remote control does not work after the battery has been changed, reprogramme the remote control:-
a. Switch off the ignition.
b. Switch the ignition on again.
c. Press button A. (The bigger of the 2 buttons that you normally press to lock the car.)
d. Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control key from the ignition lock. It should now be working again.
