Doesn't look like the auto box has a dip-stick ... which is why the AA couldn't find it ...
It has a dual purpose drain plug/level plug underneath and the filler is a screw in plug under the selector rod/cable on top of the gearbox which also makes it hard to see. You may need to remove the battery and battery box to get to it though as my manual suggests. I've even had a quick look at the handbook and that doesn't mention the auto-box at all apart from the gear lever positions and a couple of buttons!
Best source I have for that is my Haynes but the two pictures aren't very clear. I could try and scan them in and attach to this as an image though if that would help.
Otherwise let's hope someone else on here has an auto and can come up with some ideas!
It's not something simple like the selector cables have come loose or broken? Had that on a manual where a pin fell out and we lost reverse, 2nd and 4th, but 1st, 3rd and 5th were OK. I thought it was going to cost a new box, in the end it was a pin less than £2 at dealers!
You might need to find a local mobile mechanic with a knowledge of Peugeot/Citroen cars or it will probably cost a tow-in fee to the local Pug dealers on top of the work they need to do

Thought I'd add these anyway ...
CheckLevel.pdf is the maintenance page from the Haynes manual no 4813
FillerPlug.pdf is a close-up of the selector and where this needs to be removed to get to the filler plug.

The most informative read on the AL4 gearbox that I have found is at https://www.scribd.com/doc/6338026/AL4-Transmission
If you have a few days to spend (guess you won't driving much for a while), you will find how to check the fluid level - its not easy.
What warnings come up on the dash? I only have to look at mine to make it dive into limp mode!
If the fluid is low, you won't escape the flashing snow/sport lamps.
