My drivers Door Stop Check Strap has broken in two. How do I replace it as I already have a replacement. I tried today and just could not do it. So is there a very clever member out there who can this stupid member

How the hell do you get the new strap back in?
If I had A Jeremy Beagle hand I might be able to. I have normal hands. Apparently not long enough.
Am I missing a trick?
