Help required

Post by Birdseye »

Hello everyone! i am a newby to this forum. At the moment i would be pulling my hair out if i had any. The problem is my 54 plate 206 SW is loosing power, even going up a gentle slope, the power just seems to slip away but it maintains the revoulitions. This occures about half an hour into a journey, upon advice from various mechanics, the following items have been replaced. MAP sensor, Crankshaft position sensor, Throttle position sensor, Coolent temperature sensor, both Pre cat and post cat Lambda sensors and a new coil pack and plugs, but i must admit the plugs were possibly not as good a quality as should have been used. The car has been on a planet Peugeot MAP diagnostic and the only reading whic came up is P0172 Running rich on bank 1. Have any other of you good people experienced this loss of power problemproblem

Looking forward to your advice
Kind regards to all
Birdseye

Welcome,

If you are on a slope and press the accelerator hard, do the revs go up almost immediately but the car not appear to speed up?

What engine do you have?

PS This forum is really for the CC model, but we'll try and help as best we can, but your model might not have the same engine as ours ... we had a limited range of 1.6, 2.0 and 1.6 HDi diesel.

Gazza - you thinking clutch? (although it could be an auto)

P0172 isn't likely to cause issues but you may have an injector leaking
Cheers Col.

Yes Col. But wanted to see if we could get more info.

Then I remembered my HDi had something similar when the cat collapsed. Massive loss of power on even the smallest hill. A 1.4 ain't fast but I was being overtaken by 58mph artics!:-(

Faster now ... Courtesy of a large hammer and steel bar ...
