Its on the road again!

Post by marlie11 »

Morning, I have been a little late putting this post on here due to my laptop failing but....
My 206cc is back on the road I picked her up as a cat C right off and it was sat in a muddy puddle in a breakers yard for quite a while.
I have repaired several cars over the years and I fancied a little project.
All the front panels had to be replaced, I could not find a good silver O/S front wing so I got a blue one but more on that later, I replaced the rad, air con pump and gave the engine a general service whilst the engine was easily accessible. I also fitted some rear parking sensors. I had a anti pollution fault come up the first time I fired the car up and traced that to a very interesting piece of wiring by the previous owner, the previous owner had damaged the cable feeding the coil pack and had just twisted it back together and then wrapped it in electrical tape! so I re soldered the cables together and a little bit of heat shrink and it was good to go.
The stop light then started to flash as the bonnet was not closed properly but I was not aware this could make the stop light flash so that got me worried! new rear pads and a good deep clean and it was ready for its MOT.
All it needed for the MOT was the headlamps realigned and an advisory on the front number plate (cracked in the accident).
It passed its VIC check with no problems.
I went to my local spray shop and he started to prep the front wing for paint and noticed some discrepancies in the rest of the cars paintwork, O/S door had a diagonal line on it and darker rear quarter panel...
The car had a really badly matched paint job that I had not noticed before it was not a huge difference in the colour shade but it was noticeable in sunny Devonshire weather so I had the whole O/S repainted.
Now I have a tidy daily runner, it does have a couple of small niggley bits that need doing but at least it is road legal again and not broken for spares completely.

Nice job. Well done.
Now it's time to enjoy the summer.
Cheers Col.
