Roof fixed

Post by Paulengland100 »

HI all newbie here bought a 206cc 2 weeks ago with broken roof just kept beeping when I tried the switch to put roof down so read a few posts on here and set out checking the micro switches first one I checked was the boot blind switch first seamed to be clicking so moved on to the boot catch switch which had come loose so I thought my problems were solved when I fix it. No it didn't fix it how frustrating so on to the third one drivers side release catch seamed to click put back together still no joy but when I pulled the switch there was no more beeping so I thought it must be the pump so took the cover off to reveal pump and ecu pulled the pump out and took the elastic bands off to reveal the pump I then undid the two Allen key bolts which hold the motor to the pump be careful when you undo them as there is a large o ring don't loose it and put a cloth under it as when you seperates the motor from the pump hydrolic oil will spill out. So I've split it took the motor to the battery in engine bay put a wire on each of the battery terminals and put pos to pos on motor and neg wire to neg on motor to check if motor was working result motor was working well so then I put the pump back together and replaced the hydrolic back in the pump that I lost when I split it. So all back together now panel back on pulled blind out still no joy very frustating so before I called it a day I stripped the passenger side release catch checked the micro switch didn't seen to be clicking so I unclaimed it disconnected the powere to it cleaned it put it back in and thought I'll just try it before I put the release catch on and low and behold the roof worked result so put it back together and I have tyres it about 26 times and it works like a new one so before you start spending money on switches , pump or ecu have a good play about . Hope this helps thanks for reading.

Welcome Paul. This just goes to show that the simple stuff is usually why the complicated stuff doesn't work.

Enjoy the roof (once the sun comes back :S )

As long as water isn't falling out of the sky, the roof can be down.
