Roof problem

Post by hilux »

Hi all, so i have a roof problem with my peugeot 206 cc 2004 1.6 petrol engine
It is sunny now and i wanted to open the roof, but i wasnt able to do that. First of all i did everything as in the manual, but when i pressed the key for the roof down i ended with constant (beep beep beep) sound and nothing moving, the sound appears only when i press the roof button down. The sound appears when i open the roof latches and try to lower the side windows, they dont want to (even from the designated buttons, not the roof button) and when i depress the buttons the windows stops.
I tried to manually get the roof down, and i followed this step repair-206/206/info/gb/c4bm00f3.htm at the first picture im talking about them, i have done the same thing but as i push the boot lid up i can set them in place, but as i fold it down they snap and i cannot close them, now my boot is moving and cannot manage to close it. HELP! :(

I would always say try the manual roof operation as a last resort, but obviously not very helpfull to you now.
I suspect the microswitch in the boot blind hook in the left side of boot is the cause of the original problem. Put the roof back up, check the micrositch for the blind and try again.

Have a look here for more info about getting the boot closed.
Cheers Col.

Hello, thanks for the reply! In the other topic, this is the problematic part! But as i mentioned The locking clip is labelled as '8' in this pic in the other topic, that which you have sent only locks when the boot is in that position >
And when i push it down to close the boot lid they just clip and dont want to hold onto the other C shaped latches. Thats what im trying to explain, it is as if they are jammed or something. And another thing, when i opened the boot i heard that the actuators compressed can the problem be from the actuators, now that they are compressed they cannot stretch enough and the loking clips clip? I mean the actuators are in a state where as if the boot lid is opened for the roof to go into the boot. Is there something that i can do to pull up the piston actuators so that the locking clips can have space and when i want to close the boot lid to insert them into their position.
Sorry for my english, im doing my best with it, im not native english speaker!
Cheers!

Your English is fine. Where are you from?

Anyway, The actuators will move so long as you have released the pressure relief valve using the hexagonal key. When everything is latched down, tighten it back up.
Cheers Col.

I know how to release the pressure but it is like nothing happens? I will try to post a video with the problem tomorrow if i am not able to cope with it. Does it makes a sound or something when i realease the pressure ?
I am concerned that i have broken something due to my lack of experience with this car.
And how can i pressurise the system again ?
And what if i manage to close my boot lid what procedure should i follow to open and close the roof again ?
I am from Bulgaria by the way
p.s if the car has low hydraulic fluid what happens?

No, there shouldn't be any sound when you release the pressure.
It's just like releasing the pressure on a trolley jack - you could pump and pump the handle but the car wouldn't go up!
To pressurise the system you just turn the long allen key clockwise again until it tightens.
If the hydraulic fluid was low I would expect air to get into the system, and then as the air goes through the pump or cylinders you will get jerky operation as it tries to compress the air, or increased noise.

Ok i got to the local technician and with his help we've managed to get to the problem! It was a faulty switch, it is located in the boot, where there are 3 click sensors in one motherboard, they are screwed with 2 bolts into the boot (in the left high section) there is a piston for the black plastic cover that comes up when the roof is folded. So i have to change it, i dont know how much will it cost, but this was the problem, it works for now, but he told me it is like a remote control, sometimes it works, sometimes you have to push the button harder to work, in my case, the button is the manual roof folding procedure :D
So all faults read and cleared and the work, costed me about 40 levs (around 20 pounds i think)
I need to buy a new map sensor for the engine and new motherboard with the 3 switches!
Cheers, thanks for the help!!!

I got the same problem as yours, I cannot lock the rooflid with the locking latch.
I know which 3 microswitch you are talking but not sure which switch should be open or close when closing the rooflid, can u advise?
And would it matter for the microawitch just next to the c-shape latch on both side?

Thanks
