Hi all,
Since I have had 206 coupe the mfd has not been readable i.e the display is bity, I have had the car a couple of years so its time to sort this if possible. The bulbs are all there, what is the best way to see if they are working, or where can i get replacements. The mileage display is sometimes bity but seems to work when the roof is down. One more question- the boot gets very wet at this time of year therefore the roof will not go down unless i wipe the wires dry, has anyone else had this problem. Sorry to be so needy.

MFD: pull off the top of the dash support (clips on) and you can see the backlight bulbs .. three or four depending on type of MFD. The bulb holders twist out and the new bulbs are the small capless type which pull out and push in (1.2w I think). With the cover off you should be able to see which ones are working.
If the display is still not lighting up then the joint between the two circuit boards could be broken. Carefully take the white plastic cover off and check that the pins and sockets are still attached and resolder if needed.
If the MFD is bitty then that could mean the LCD panel is damaged and you need a new one ... but don't swap the units ie three and four bulbs as one is for pre-mux and the other multiplex and they are not exchangable. Also there are two sizes of screen: one line on basic models (cheap) and the wider version showing temp etc (can be rip-off prices). So you have to work our which one of the four you have ... then it's usually fleabay or breakers. Try pug206cc-spares on ebay as I've had good service from them in the past.
Condensation: that's because there is a lot of exposed metal in the boot lid, but it shouldn't stop it opening. You might want to invest on something to soak up the condensation: you might be able to buy something in a DIY store used on window sills on older houses, etc.
