Hiya, just wondering if anyone has changed the micro switch within the handbrake? How easy is it to do? Both mine (406) and my friends (206cc) has the odd ''brake fluid level low'' which is most often than not the micro switch within the handbrake housing.
Interested to know the fix in a bit more detail for this job
Thanks in advance x

Better still, put the details in your signature.
If your brake pads are wearing thin that'll cause your brake fluid to get low and put the warning up. Have you checked them lately?

Remove the cover at the back of the centre console, and remove the screw below. Reach under this and disconnect the multi plug for the power roof. The rear part of the console can now be removed from around the handbrake. Remove the window switches and remove the 10mm nut from below them. There will be just enough room to disconnect the cigarette lighter multi plug. Next remove the ashtray and pull the light from its housing. Remove the cover from the front of the console and remove the 2 screws from behind it. Lift up the gear lever cover, then ease the centre console out. It is tight, but is easier with one of the seats raised up and moved forward. You'll find one of the things it jams on is the switch for the handbrake. Once removed, there's easy access to the switch.
