Hi,
Peugeot 206 1.6lt year 2000
I am looking to purchase this car & have noticed a chirping / gurgling noise coming from the engine.
The noise appears to be high up in the engine bay & is between the rear of the engine & the firewall.
The area in question has a number of rubber hoses & electrcal 'valves' linked together. Not being a mechanic, I am guessing it is where the air & fuel mix???
The noise is persistent but irregular & is not affectecd by engine revs or gear change.
The noises could be described as either an electrical 'shorting' or a high pitched chirp, as though air was in a water pipe & being forced through a pump at very high pressure. It is hard to define with the engine back ground noise.
Thank you.
Regards,
Chris

Re: Chirping noise from engine
Hi Chris.
To be honest, I'm struggling to guess what it could be without hearing it for myself.
I would say waterpump / cambelt / accessory belt / belt tensioners, but the noise would all change with engine speed.
As this is only a proposed purchase at this stage, I would be looking at the current owner getting it fixed before you pay as it could be expensive.
