Hi,
I was getting a lot of knocking from the front wheels, so I took it to see garage that fixed the knocking by replacing the anti-roll bar but now the knock has been replaced by a squeaking from what sounds like the front springs?
I'm thinking that possibly the anti-roll bar repair has awoken another problem, I'm kinda hoping it might be a case of greasing it up but I'm not too sure where?

Re: squeaking noise from the front suspension
Try spraying all the suspension rubber bushes with silicone spray lube. Keep it away from the brakes.

As above ... but that isn't WD40 ... get the proper silicon based stuff.

Re: squeaking noise from the front suspension
I tried spraying around the new anti-roll bar joints and the shock absorber but it didn't go, I have now taken it back to the garage that fitted the anti-roll bar and they are looking at it.
They think it might be the shock absorber?
apparently you should press on the car and it should move down then on release it should rise and settle, if it bounces the shocks have gone but mine "apparently" wont go down? he's thinks the shocks are ceased?
Is this possibly the way they are set up for the cc? as they dont use standard 206 shocks?
Thanks for your advise, its invaluable!

Re: squeaking noise from the front suspension
Is this the mechanic or the salesman? The suspension is fairly stiff but should move with a good push down.
Cheers Col.

Re: squeaking noise from the front suspension
He's the mechanic, but he hasn't looked at it properly yet. I don't think it's rock solid just stiff but I think it's always been like this?
It sounds to me like something is coming loose as you drive along, every bump or even as you accelerate or turn it will squeek and knock.
Have you ever experienced this before? I tried looking (as mentioned by evilhamster) for the damper connection but couldn't find where to check it?

Re: squeaking noise from the front suspension
I personally can't remember ever having a nut come loose on a damper.
They are located under the plastic covers (circled)
As I said earlier, these do have fairly stiff suspension, a good test would be to compare the stiffness on each corner. It's unlikely to have 4 faulty shocks, so a faulty one should show up as stiffer / more bouncy / clunky than the others.
Shock absorbers (dampers) are filled with oil so don't tend to seize on vehicles in daily use, but I have seen them seize on vehicles in long term storage especially if they have lost their oil.

Re: squeaking noise from the front suspension
Firstly thank you for the above, I decided to try another garage and they found the problem due
It turned out to be the drivers side wishbone, the middle bush had come slightly loose and was squeeking when moved up and down.
so glad its all done and I can get back to enjoying my pug again!
