Ashtray bulb

Post by shep1001 »

Happy new year all.

Does anybody know what type of bulb is needed for the ashtray illumination? never knew it had a bulb but was giving Lisa's car a clean today and took the ashtray out and there is a bulb to illuminate it.

Its a bit of an odd bulb on two prongs never seen one like it before and there is no markings on it to identify what type it is.

There has been one post on this topic and the originator got his replacement bulbs from the dealership.

I suspect that it will be a 5w bulb type R569, see

and

The Ring website is useful for identifying many types of interior and exterior bulbs:

They are usually only 1.2 or 2 watts bulbs. Small capless variety.

Hi all for future reference if you need an ashtray bulb, its a R284 12v 2.3w Bulb, made by manufactures such as Ring. Its also the same size bulb that is in the in the 3rd (centre) brake light that uses 8 of them.

Plenty available on flee bay in 10's for about £5.00
