Icey weather/ CC handling/Worrying/Tyres

Post by hollyb »

Hi everyone

I have a Peugeot 206 cc 2007. I drove to work this morning the road was a bit icey, whilst a i went round a corner the steering went really light and the car slide to a holt. i was only doing 20 mph. Is this a problem with the car or the conditions?

This is the 3rd cc i have owned, and my previous cc did the same thing once- it was quite scary to not have control and believe it should have handled better

Any suggestions / help would be really appriciated :hmm:

I think any car would more or less do the same.
Depending on weight and size of course..
A lot depends on the tyres...

Winter tyres may solve the problem, but they don't come cheap ;)

Probably conditions. ... black ice is hard to spot until you are on it.

The wider the tyres the more chances of sliding on ice/hard frost.

What is the tread on your tyres like? If they are old and worn, that will not help.

What make/type of tyres have you got? Some tyres are hard to make them last longer but that compromises on grip.

Sometimes you just have to adjust your driving style to the conditions ... lighter on the accelerator, etc. Hope that doesn't sound patronising .. it wasn't meant to ...
