Hi guys, this is my first post here, I want to ask something. I may buy a 2006 206cc gti with the 2.0 non diesel engine. But the guy that is selling me says that someone tried to steal the ECU and damaged the computer and the wiring harness, in the pic he send me I see a lot of wires all over arround.
My Question is..... Is still posible to buy a complete wiring harness for this car and a programmed ecu ready to install and run???? How much would it cost??
Question about a posible buy!! and parts needed!!

Welcome. I've never heard of a 206cc gti. Doubt if its UK spec.

Re: Question about a posible buy!! and parts needed!!
Hi, yes it's possible, but it's not easy or cheap to do.
Ideally you need everything to come from a complete donor car that is the same age as the one that you wish to repair.
Take a look at my project thread. There are 2 looms that you need - the engine wiring loom which goes from the ECU to every electrical part on the engine, and the main loom.
The main loom goes to every light at the front, the radiator fans, ABS system, wipers, main fusebox, and it then goes through the bulkhead into the passenger compartment and to everything underneath the fascia.
It also goes to the ABS sensors at the back of the car and the fuel sender and pump which are under the back seats. So an awful lot of stuff has to come out to get a replacement wiring loom in.
The other thing you need is a matching Body Systems Interface and ECU (they are coded together), and the keyfob because that is coded to them as well.
The biggest problem is that to get these things you have to disturb just about every electrical system, remove the dash and heater system, every wire from under the bonnet AND have a dry environment to do it all in. Just getting the stuff out of your donor car is a solid day's work. And many breakers won't let you do it because they would rather sell plugs with components, or don't trust you not to break stuff that they want to sell. But if you get to a vehicle too late, then you'll find that people have already butchered the loom to the extent that it's beyond repair.
If you have the knowledge and facilities to do it, my advice would be to do what I did - find a similar aged model on Copart that has been bashed from behind, buy the whole thing, use what you need and break the rest for spares.

Re: Question about a posible buy!! and parts needed!!
I'd find a different car ... unless you have a lot of patience.
The only thing about the CC that's GTI is under the bodywork. It's the same running gear as a 138bhp GTI hatchback .. not the 180GTI! Although the CC is often described as 137bhp!! (Not sure where it lost a gee-gee!). The models were CC LE I think for the "GTI" spec.
I thought the only CC diesels were 1.6 litres ... so calling it is 2.0 non-diesel sounds very very odd.

Thank you for the responses. I cannot find a donnor car becausse there not many of them in my country, and I am only allowed to import new auto parts to my country. The patiente of reconnecting everything its not a big deal, the problem is finding the parts. Are there still avaible from peugeot dealers on Europe?? a complete wiring harness and a programmed ecu????

Where are you? As this is a UK site we are likely to only be able to get parts for right-hand drive vehicles here.

I am in South America..... the wiring harness and the ECU should not be different for being a right or left hand drive vehicle!

My local Peugeot garage referrer to the cc 2.0 as a GTi as it's the same engine as in the early 206 GTi's

Re: Question about a posible buy!! and parts needed!!
I'm afraid that is incorrect. The wiring harnesses are different part numbers because the wires which go to the pedals and instrument clusters are different lengths. If you register yourself on Peugeot Service Box you can see this for yourself.Melssj5 wrote:I am in South America..... the wiring harness and the ECU should not be different for being a right or left hand drive vehicle!

You can't just change the ECU. It has to be coded to the BSI and ignition key.

Coding it is not a big deal, becausse there is a Peugeot dealer here that could do it, but that dealer usually never have parts on sotck and take months or years to have a piece. I had a 407 before and was a PITA to get any part from them!

And you want to buy another Peugeot?? ... I think you might want to reconsider that idea ...but that dealer usually never have parts on stock and take months or years to have a piece. I had a 407 before and was a PITA to get any part from them!
if you can't import 2nd hand parts, you're going to totally reliant on the dealer. You could end up with an unusable car if they can't or won't get them ... new parts are starting to get harder to get in UK and some are already no longer available ... don't forget we've already had two 206 replacements in the 207 and 208 .... as yours is left-hand drive you start with the added complication of getting them from mainland Europe (France, Spain, etc) ... and I've no idea of how their dealers operate or if spares supplies are any better.
Personally, I'd walk away ... I'd find something a bit less of a risk unless I had easy access to all the bits I needed to get it working.
If there is a lot of damage at the ecu end, that's a lot of wires and three very odd connectors.

Thank you very much for your response. I will take your advice and walk away from it....... Actually I have a 1998 chrysler sebring convertible and its hard and expensive to fix..... I better dont take the risk with that 206cc. Especially for the parts issue!
