I have the bong followed by fast beeps

Post by birdnotbint »

I have checked all the switches and as far as I can see they are all fine As I release the roof catch on both side I got a bong but then press the button to lift the roof and get quick succession beeps and nothing more. What am I doing wrong or do I need a doctor :(

Have you pulled the blind across in the boot?

Exactly the same problem on my daughters car -53 plate - only had it a couple of days - was working fine - now symptoms as above.
Boot cover is pulled over - side windows fully open ok- release roof catches & get the bong but then when trying roof down button nothing happens other than the quick succession beeps.
Have tried moving the white 'loops' on the internal sides of boot as per suggestions on other posts but no joy.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted by me & increasingly despondent daughter !

Check that the blind switch is clicking and not broken/bent ... it's operated by a thin piece of metal!

I can see the blind switch (on left hand side) - the thin metal strip that the blind pushes down seems to be ok what do you mean by checking it's clicking ? Thanks

Check that the metal is pressing on the small button in the switch ... if you listen quietly and close up you may hear it click ...

Yep seems to click ...... Have noticed the boot lock (central) has only got one bolt holding it so a little bit of movement - wondering if although boot does register as closed that it may be slightly out so causing the problem ?
Think i will try getting a replacement for the missing bolt as next step

Sorted - boot switch was slightly misaligned due to missing bolt
