An intro and an airbag question...

Hello, everyone.

It's great to be on the forum and I hope I can get some help with what, at first glance, might seem like a slightly odd question.

For the past 15 years I've been living in London and haven't needed a car. However, I'm going to be doing a fair bit of travelling over the next few months and also, if I'm honest, I'm itching to get behind the wheel again. I've booked refresher lessons, so that's taken care of, and I suspect that the Peugeot 206 might be the car for me. But here comes the odd question.

What year did they first have airbags fitted? I'm not that bad a driver, but I'd really like the peace of mind that comes with knowing that the car has good safety features. Please help!

I can't recall ever seeing one without an airbag. Air bags have been compulsory since 2005 in the UK, so any car after that date will have them.

I've got a 2002 206 hatchback and that has two: driver bag built into steering wheel and passenger in dash. Even my 1998 Alfa has those although the early models had the passenger down as an option!

The 2001 CC has side airbags in the seats too, so some of it is down to the original specifications/trim levels and original customer order.



Later they fitted them over the doors on higher spec cars and our MiTo has one under the dash for knee protection!


Think I have to go back to 80's when I had cars without ...
