Whining/Whirring

Post by WesFriedel »

Hi all

I have noticed a whine/whirring noise when the engine is running, it gets louder under acceleration. Its coming from the alternator/cambelt area but cant tell what from.

Any ideas before it gets booked in to a costly garage?!

Thanks

You could run it with the alternator belt off and see if the noise goes. Could be belt tensioner, alternator, waterpump, aircon compressor or power steering pump.
Cheers Col.
