Wheels rubbing on my 206 gti plz help
Hi I've got a 206 gti with the sp kit with the arch extensions I had. 205 45 16 wheels on i brought some 205 40 17 wheels on and I've noticed they rub when I go over bumps ect. My car has not been lowered or messed about with apart from the wheels. Has any 1 else had this problem or is it my back shocks nackerd. As haven't got the money to change them only to find that ain't the problem

Likelyhood is your new wheels are just too big ... going up an inch in rim diameter means you have to go down in tyre profile to match and 45% to 40% may not be enough.
The new tyres are 14mm larger in diameter .. (try http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html to calculate what you had against what you have/should have). Using this calculator ... http://www.alloywheels.com/Tyre_Calculator ... it says you need 225/35/17 tyres!
Also you don't say how WIDE the new rims are .. that could also make a big difference ... and mean 205 tyres are too narrow for the rims. The original 16" rims are 6.5" IIRC ....
Also check the OFFSET of the rim ... if they are proper 206 rims they should be correct (although difference makes may be different). You should be able to find a number like 38 on the back of a rim ... that's the offset ... the distance between the centre of the rim and the back of the wheel where it mounts on the hub.
You might be better off going to http://www.206info.co.uk and ask there ... this is a CC forum ... there are lots of customised 206 hatchbacks on that site ...

The shock absorbers have nothing to do with it. The wheels should clear throughout the full range of travel. I suspect the problem may well be the off set or the width. Are you running spacers?
Cheers Col.
