Constant beep - with partial solution

Post by EdmundIJones »

Yesterday my wife took the 206cc our for a drive with the kids and came back complaining that it was beeping constantly (roof up and she had not tried to put the roof down).

After spending a lot of time looking at the microswitches and checking the latches I'm still done the wiser (although I did learn how to tighten the top latches which I will write up with pictures at some point).

It appears I have a constant tone when the roof is either up or down and going over 5mph. I get beeps at all the right points when opening and closing the roof. When putting the roof up I have found that if I do it normally and wait for the beeps then I get the constant tone when driving. If I stop - release the two roof latches and push the roof open button DOWN (to close the already closed roof), I can hear the pump working and then I get a beep to indicate it is ready, if I then close the latches I can drive on without the constant tone. A bit odd which leads me to think that the closing mechanism from roof down isn't fully locking or something even though the beeps are all occurring to say so. Any ideas on this?

Also if you look at the two struts that hold the boot, there are two white "n" shaped bits of metal, they are attached at one end and have what looks like two holes to engage into, does anyone know what position these should be in when the roof is open and closed? If I move them to one position when the roof is up then the car is unable to retract the roof at all. Some sort of catch I guess.
