I have a 2002 206cc, automatic transmission. The speedo and odometer are not working after some transmission work ( and roof is not responding anymore either which I assume is the same cause.). the dealer is asking 800 to repair it quoting it needs to rebuild the whole transmission in order to replace the speed sensor... I have heard it relatively easy fix if it is the sensor on the transmission. Which one is the truth? Would appreciate any thought. Thanks!
PS: the repair note says it needs a "Speed Sensor Screw CT 24x21". Is that the sensor itself or a just screw? I suspected the dealer screwed up the sensor when they rebuild the transmission earlier, but they won't admit it. What can I do about it? thanks!
Replacing speed sensor need 8 hours?

Depends if they messed up the actual sensor or the worm drive inside the box. I think the sensor is just plugged in on top of the gearbox ... it may need a plate and bolt to hold it in but I can't see why you'd need to take the box out ... might have a browse of my Haynes in a minute
Who did the original transmission work and what was done? I'd take it back to them saying it was OK before that messed it up and refuse to pay! Trading Standards would probably love a call from you if they get shirty!
