Remote control key
Hi, I own a 2001 Peugeot 206. My key stopped working on Saturday so I took it to Timpsons on Saturday who replaced the battery and as the light was working on it I thought I would have no problem. However the key would not open the door and after a short time the light on the keyfob would not light up even when the button was pressed. Mine is the older style key with just one button. The key alone does not open the door. Most of the sites I've looked at suggest a protocol for re-synchronising the key but all of them require you to have access to the inside of the car. As my car key won't let me in I don'T know what to do. Two locksmiths have both suggested looking online and the Peugeot dealer have said they will tow the car in and take a look but cannot guarantee anything. Can anyone help or advise?

Re: Remote control key
I would recommend that you have a look on www.peugeotforums.com.
You need to need to find someone near to you with Peugeot Planet 2000 (there is a Peugeot Planet map on the site) and have them re-synchronise your key to your car.
To do this they will need your keycode. It was originally on a card the size of a credit card which should have been with the car when you bought it. However many have gone missing. Not to worry though because for a £5 PayPal payment there is a bloke on the aforementiond Peugeot forum who goes by the screen name "Bettyswollocks" who can re-supply you with it.

Re: Remote control key
Where are you based Wendy, as I know a guy that can come to you and re-prog a new key?
Cheers Col.

Re: Remote control key
Hi, thank you so much for the responses to my query. I thought I had better let you know how I got on. I went to the site suggested earlier in the threads and ordered new keycodes which now cost £30. These have not come through yet. However a neighbour spotted yesterday evening that if even the key would not operate the lock it meant a fault with the lock and not necessarily they key. He asked if I always use the remote control button rather than they key and I confirmed this is the case. He then squirted wd40 into the lock and hey presto the door unlocked and the remote control was fully working. I feel like an idiot for not realising earlier but am hugely relieved that I am back on the road. Once again many thanks for the responses.
