First post here, I bought an 03 5 door 206 1.6 SE from a dealer 2 weeks ago and i have had the ABS Fault message and the Automatic Gear Fault come up on the computer.
It's drivable and only after I've been on the motorway for say 20-30 mins cruising at 70mph does the message pop up.
Peugeot charged me £60 to read the ECU messages, they are:
History All the vehicle information‘
206 Vehicle : 206 . '
9845 Architecture : TIZOO1
VF***********2 VIN code : VF*************2
ECU conguration and services. Motor : NFU .
Global test. Chassis number or build code of the vehicle : 9845
Automatic transmission control unit Body : BERLINESPORTES
Fault reading.
Automatic transmission control unit
Intermittent fault. Press control signal fault.
Intermittent fault. Converter lock-up.
Permanent fault. Controlled converter sliding.
Remote intermittent fault. Vehicle speecl transmitted by the ABS ( CAN ) No signal.
They said they had found on the ramp a phonic wheel cracked which they say explains the ABS light and message (and this will cost me circa £350 to fix - some new shaft) but they said not worth doing that until the car has been to a transmission specialist first, they couldn't advise on the gearbox codes and faults.
I only bought the car for £1500 and its a nice little motor to run around in though the gearbox does behave a little strange - want to pull when I stop and seems a bit odd the manner in which it changes gear - but obviously I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on it.
Can anyone give me an idea if these codes are serious and expensive to rectify ? I have sent them to the dealership I bought the car from and asked him to advise if he can sort it, I also bought a warranty with the vehicle for a year so maybe it would cover it, problem is it's only limited to £1000 max claim value and I think this lot sounds expensive.
Its got 92,000 miles and this may be a silly question but, should I stop driving it now ?
Welcome any advice and tips.
Thanks
