1.6Hdi help

Post by dirtyderv »

Hi all, Just got the better half a 2006 hdi allure and thought I'd drop in for a bit of advice :)

The car is a cracker having had one owner and full main dealer service history and pulls like a train, there is however a slight issue with the way the car feels, as a passenger mainly.
It's kinda hard to explain but I will do my best, reversing off the drive and crawling in traffic the car has a rumble as the clutch is fed out and drive applied and a feel of what I can only explain as feeling as if the tyres are flat, the feel is all through my feet as they are positioned in the bulk head.
I've some mechanical experience and wondered along the lines of either engine mount, anti roll bar bush and maybe even a wheel bearing.

Any of you good folk care to share any experiences and point my in the right direction?

Ta in advance,
Paul

Vibrations can be deceptive ... I had a rear wheel bearing go which I was convinced was coming from the front!

Jack up the front wheel and hold it at 3 and 9 o'clock and push/pull. Any play is probably the bearing but also check the steering rack rod end (ball-joint). Then try at 12 and 6 o'clock.

Spin the wheel and lightly rest you finger tips on the coil spring .. and roughness in the bearing will transmit itself up through the suspension and you will feel the vibrations through your finger tips.
