Correct spark plugs

Post by Birtchn »

Hi everyone

I am in the process of changing the spark plugs on daughters 206 cc 1.6 2003. The ones which came out are Bosch FR7DC.
The car part shop has supplied NGK LFR6B, which are about 5mm longer. They have a NGK BKR6E which are the same as the Bosch ones. Does anybody know which plug is the correct one, as I dont want to put the longer plug in if it will cause damage.

Many Thanks

you need Bosch plugs as peugeot's don't seem to like the NGK plugs

As evilhamster says - use only Bosch plugs else you're asking for trouble.

I buy mine at the Peugeot main dealer when I get the genuine filters too. The spark plugs last 40,000 miles so a few pennies difference in cost surely won't break the bank.

Hi
I was in kind of the same situation though the other way around. The car had the NGK spark plugs in when I bought my car. Though me being silly went to Halfords without checking and they gave me the Bosch plugs you're describing. I though it was safe to stick with what was in the vehicle I have a 1.6 16v allure. Though I have noticed when starting the car it can go a bit funny at times and sounds different. You have worried me with this post ..... haha I'm not sure myself now have I got the wrong plugs??
You can make something idiot proof, but someone will just make a better idiot.

There is an issue with the combination of NGK plugs and some coilpacks, which means the plugs don't fire properly. I think it's more for the 2 litre engine. I think if you have a Sagem coilpack you are best to fit Bosch.

I fitted the Super 4s to our 2.0 anyway ... that was about a month before the coilpack failed!

Can someone advise me please, as I'm getting conflicting information.
Halfords just sold me Bosch Super 4 set 510 but these are shorter than the Bosch (not Super 4) plugs I've removed, and I've read others have fitted Bosch Super 4 set 522.
The Halfords website says 510 for a 65kw Nfz tu5jp engine or 522 for a 79kw N6a tu5jp4 and 80kw Nfu tu5jp4 engine. How will I know which I have?
Thanks.

But you haven't said what engine you have ... 1.6 or 2.0??

Use the Bosch site ... Halfords manage to get most things wrong ... their 'flip cards' in the store are next to useless and full of mistakes ... and don't get ,e started on their battery specs!!!

I have just come across the same problem. Slightly different as I had chosen Bosch replacements having read in various places some engines are not liking the NGK plugs.
Being the first time I have changed the plugs on my 206 1.6 (110bhp) 2005 Sport engine I did not know what was fitted. I found FR7DC in it. The online parts supplier gave me FR8SC. Various other online suppliers also quote the longer reach plugs. So yeh do you risk the longer plug and possible piston damage? My engine has been running fine so play safe and fit the shorter plugs. :?

Would that have been this? Or have I got my info mixed up?
Normal Bosch FR8ME = FR78NX Super 4s 522

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks! Ordered some. Sorry if a silly question, but isn't it wise to remove the negative battery terminal before changing and thus go through the correct battery disconnect procedure (http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic ... 23&t=13473) first?
