boot lid problem

when i try to open my roof on my 51 plate 206cc the boot lid goes up then starts to judder and the roof won't go up. if i move the roof back and forward by hand it starts to work. it does the same thing when i close the roof.

I would guess at a microswitch. Check them out first.
If boot/roof can move under power then it is likely one of the switches shutting things down.

When was the last time you greased the frame hinges?
It's something not many people thinks about and i have found that alot of my customers have suffered from a slow or failing roof because of this.
