Hi & welcome. What makes you say it's the clutch? They don't usually just go. What are the symptoms?
Cheers Col.

hi thanks for ur reply... car wont go into gear... can only assume this is the clutch. Have u any other suggestions as to what it can be ? ... Clutch has been iffy for a few weeks now, hard to get in gear and the juddering when pulling away and the pulsating clutch pedal. Not looking forward to the garage bill :(

Ah the pulsating pedal gives it away, the release bearing will have pushed through the pressure plate. So new clutch required. Some times the slave cylinder fails and people mistake this for the clutch which is why I asked the question.
Do you sit with it in gear and the clutch down at traffic lights etc?
Cheers Col.

Thought so. That's why it's gone. That habit will cost you unless you break it.
Price wise depends on where you take it. Grandadmonkey and I disagree about mr clutch. I say they're rubbish, but he has had good results with them ( I just think he was lucky)
Cheers Col.

About £400 including a new thrust release bearing and slave cylinder. Maybe a little more as VAT rate is now 20%.

Right still not had car looked at as dont get paid for 2 weeks :( ... Car was parked outside my house and causing problems with parking (work have lent me a car so I can still work :) ) anyway oh (adey) got a couple of heavies lol to push the car onto my front garden.... tried to start the car so i had power steering to make it easier. The car will now not start :( ... Dont think battery as its trying to start... And had new battery last yr.
Looked on internet and someone saying that it mite not be the clutch but the slave cylinder rod had come through and damaged some components ??? (When it happened all we herd was metal on metal and making horrid noise)
Im really not mechanical minded lol so any advice b4 I take to the garage would be appreciated as I dont wanna be ripped off. Adey knows a bit about cars but this problem is too complicated

many thanks
Jo
