Air bag is held on with two screws at back (pre-mux cars and probably torx header) or clipped on on newer models (multiplex).

Have you got round or rectangular holes on the back of the wheel?

You'll need to disconnect the battery and leave the car for 10-15 mins to allow the air bag system to discharge.

Then once the airbag is off, it's a torx headed bolt holding the wheel to the steering column.

Ok, them multiplex .. I changed the air bag squib on our a couple of years back.

A small screwdriver through the hole in the back should unclip the air bag. Turn the steering wheel to get move access room. Once it's loose there are two colour-coded wires holding it to the comm unit. And 1 or 2 more for the horn connection.

Make sure the steering wheel is straight ahead when you take it off so it goes back straight ..

Loosen, but don't remove the big bolt, with the correct torx socket and pull the steering wheel loose. You may need wiggle it and to even give it a bash with the flat of you hand to get it to release off the splines. The bolt will stop it flying off and hitting you!

You will probably have to remove the column surround as well.

I think you should then be able get to the comm unit. All goes back in reverse.

Just make sure you disconnect that battery .. if you don't you could trigger the airbag!

When you put the air bag down, have the back of the unit pointing to the floor ... if it does discharge (shouldn't if you leave it for long enough!) it won't try and be the next satellite in orbit around the moon!!!

Hope you got the right comm unit .. the pre and post mux are different and not swappable.

BTW when I change the air bag squib pre-mux one was £35 and mux over £100!!!
