Speedometer needle fails occasionally

Post by lowfat »

Occasionally when going along the speedometer needle drops to zero for a while then jumps back up to normal. Any ideas what could be the cause? Does anyone else experience this? Please reply if you do so we can find out if this is a common fault with peugeots.

Happened to me a while ago although I had ABS fault and light showing. Replaced an ABS sensor as this was the problem with mine. No further probs since.

Yorkielassy. That only works on certain years. Our friend lowfat needs to tell us more about the car.

Your car will use the abs system for speed measurement. If it is enough of a problem, it would be worth checking with a diagnostic machine to see if there are codes stored as that would tell you which part of the system is giving problems. If no codes stored, it could be a problem with the head unit (dashboard) Intermittant faults are the worse to fault on.

You didn't mention high revving in you other post. Listen for air leaks around back of engine. An air leak can cause missfire and high revving.
