Evening all,
Does anyone know a way to get into the boot of a 206cc when you have no access through roof mechanism? Hopefully without having to do too much damage!
Roof is stuck open, but as boot won't open the manual way of closing roof doesn't appear to be an option.
The electrical option for closing the roof given in the youtube video doesn't appear to be an option, as when pressing the window down buttons and turning ignition on, there isn't any beeping.
I can imagine punching the lock out might allow the boot to open, but as i have only just bought the car i am not that sure how the mechanism opens. (I also don't want to have a car thiefs guide put on the net....!)
Alternatively, does anyone know whether it is feasible to dismantle the roof mechanism from the "open" position? If it is possible to access all the bolts etc then that will be my preferred option, but being new to the 206 experience it would be good to know if anyone has any experience of this.
I've searched the forum but not seen anything other than the helpful diagrams explaining more about the mechanism. Great info, but i'm just not sure if it's possible to dismantle in the open position.
Tks in advance,
matt

Take out the rear seat. It's a pain but you can get to it through there.

Re: How to open boot from outside
Thanks Capncol, but the problem i have is the boot is currently full of the roof. Looking through that opening, all i can see is roof, no way i can see reaching passed it to get to the boot mechanism!

Re: How to open boot from outside
I'll have a look at that tomorrow. Might need to move back a bit more of the lining i guess.
If i can see the back of the boot lock mechanism, what should i be looking for to open it from the inside? Is it a screw type mechanism, or will i need to trigger some sort of lever/switch to pop the boot?
Sorry for all the questions, but new to 206's so not too familiar with their workings!
Cheers

Re: How to open boot from outside
Well i have taken the least favourite route on the stuck boot/roof problem.
I spent all day trying everything i could, but eventually resorted to the car thiefs tried and tested method....
Screwdriver and hammer. Not proud of it, and won't explain the whole process, but it got me in to the boot. Doesn't seem to be any damage (other than the lock!).
Was then able to free the hydraulic pressure and manually close the roof at least.
It looks like the strikerlock plate on the boot wasn't working properly. The plastic arm seems very stiff and didn't move back with the spring. It looks like there is a microswitch there for the roof, so i am hoping that explains the roof problems.
Will replace the lock plate, and the locking barrel, check the switches etc, and then see if there is anything else amiss with the roof....

Re: How to open boot from outside
I got some parts from breakers today and boot is now lockable finally.
They didn't send the striker plate I asked for, but it turns out my sriker plate seems ok after all.
Metal rods attached to new lock barrel and everything works on the key at least. The solenoid seems to lock but not unlock. Not sureif its the solenoid or the electric signal that wont let it unlock via the remote.
Either way its progress!
Now if i can only resolve the temperamental roof..... seemed to work for a while yesterday, but today just throws a fit and beeps constantly! Will try powering off the ecu again and see if that resets it.

Re: How to open boot from outside
Read your owners manual. The boot was never designed to unlock via the solenoid. You can only lock it using the lock button on your remote key. To unlock it you must insert the key in the lock and turn it. That way the boot is more secure and people can't access it when you come to a stop, unless you've purposely left it unlocked.

Re: How to open boot from outside
Thanks for that info, good to know. Seems it's now working properly then!
I will have a proper look at the owners manual..... Too used to everything locking and unlocking on the button i guess.... As you say, it does have some security logic to this method.
