206 popping exhaust when hot and running lumpy

Post by greenyman »

Hi, Can someone help me please, i have a v reg 1.1 206 and when the car has driven roughly 10 miles the exhaust starts popping and runs lumpy, once its cooled down its fine, but as soon as its warm it plays up again. I have changed the coil pack, spark plugs, lumbda sensor, exhaust cat and nothings helped. iv been told its not the head gasket. Any ideas will be welcome. Thanks Mark. :)

Get the fault codes read. It sounds like it might be a crank trigger breaking down, but as I said. Get the codes read or else you will just keep spending money on guesses as you have appeared to have done so far.
Cheers Col.

Capncol's recommendation sounds sensible. If the crank sensor is breaking down as it gets hot then some sparks will be missing from time to time, so it will run rough and unburnt fuel will find its way into the hot exhaust and burn there causing the popping.
