Cat link pipe - Exhaust query

Post by andyr »

Hi probably wrong place to post this, so sorry if it is...
can anyone give a little advice on the exhaust system?
i have a 1.6 petrol sport pug and last night the front link pipe part 741-015(a) has fallen off at the bracket connecting to part 254-627.

The issues not repairing it but getting replacement. ive saw a virtually brand new complete exhaust on flea-bay.
my question and people may laugh but i have no idea is that is it easy to take apart?
just that its not going to fit in my car for transport in one piece unless i want to put the roof down (which i cant as i need to replace a micro switch!!!)
Any advice will be greatly appreicated :)

Can't be certain 100% for a 1.6 as they exhausts differ depending on engine size, but the 2.0 exhaust comes in two pieces ... one long part from the exhaust manifold to the rear axle, and then the rear silencer box. I collected ours in an Alfa 156 and had to put the end of the main section through the ski hatch in the rear seat and into the boot. The front end was in the passenger foot well, so I doubt if it will go in a CC!

thanks got it sorted this morning,
got it into 3 pieces ( back box, link pipe to cat and middle bar) and it just just squeezed into the car diagonal with one end resting on the dash a few millimeters from the windscreen and the other just on the roll bar in the opposite corner.
Tight squeeze but well worth it, its problably about 6 month old and its cost 10 quid for the whole lot.

definitely it was just luck i guess.
The guy was selling parts on ebay after his wifes pug died it was local pick up only so thankfully had no other bidders upping its price.
hes also got the full hydraulics for the roof for sale too, if anyones needing one or interested....
