Hi I'm new to the site and purchased my first 206cc (2003 plate) a couple of days ago.
When starting the car the trip computer often comes up Ice Warning when the outside temperature is far from that low. Also on the way home tonight the computer was saying some doors where open although all thoroughly checked, then the 'mileage to petrol' was increasing instead of decreasing, then outside temperature was showing in the minus - it settled down after a few miles but when the car was rested and restarted it happened all over again - it flashes intermittently between incorrect information.
Any ideas please? hopefully just a loose connection but where?

Welcome to the forum.
Spurious messages are often a sign that the car's battery is on its last legs. Bear in mind that the battery on the 206cc is different from the hatchback, it is taller. Folk often fit the wrong one as a replacement and that can cause problems too. Peugeot dealers can be quite competitive on price and will supply the correct one when the time comes to fit a new one.

Re: Trip Computer Problems
I can concur with GrandadMonkey ... fitting the wrong battery is a real pain as the terminals get pulled off by the battery box ... although it is modifiable with a sharp blade.
It happened to us a couple of times, the last one resulted in an AA call-out and the engineer fitted some extra padding under the battery to make it sit higher.
Be careful of specs on websites and in places like halfords as they often sell the wrong battery type ...

Thank you so much for your responses. It makes even more sense in that it is a little sluggish on starting in the morning
I will get the battery checked tomorrow

Re: Trip Computer Problems
Well, it's a definite improvement changing the battery as it was the incorrect one fitted previously. All functions sharper - opening/locking, starting etc. so thank you for that info.
I've sorted out the computer regarding the boot showing open - it was a loose screw on the lock part against the body - tightened it up and no flashing in this respect!!
The computer is still showing that it is minus 17 degrees outside (although not showing Ice Warning now) and sometimes says I'm doing 80 mpg + (I wish) so any ideas on this please?
Thank you

Could be a faulty sensor - located in the n/s door mirror (you'll see the small bulge at the bottom that houses it). See this link which seems to relate to a left hand drive car.

My mpg will sometimes shows as 100+mpg if I'm downhill on the over-run. Depends which setting you've got the in-car computer on.
Well done on sorting out the boot open warning issue.

Re: Trip Computer Problems
Thank you for the info. and attached drawing (really helpful) got to hide it from my dad though he'd have a field day with this - just about stopped him pulling the boot to pieces to find the loose contact !!!!
With the 'miles per gallon' i'll drop trying to remedy this as when physically driven it does give a sensible reading.
As i'm getting to know the car i've noticed that on 'shaking' the handbrake when off sometimes jolts the temperature back to normal but that feels a bit to close to the roof button to start messing around this area so i'll go with the sensor first.
I would like to say I was so nervous buying this car as I had my previous Clio for 10 years, we got our knocks and pains together over the years !!!!! but with this site I actually feel i'm being looked after - thank you
