Expect the handling and ride to be significantly worse ... you're already on 45% profiles. Going that wide will be like having a strip of rubber painted on the rims ... no sidewall to take the bumps. And very wide tyres tend to tram-line ...

Might be worth you checking in on the 206info site .. they have many more modified cars than this site might. They would be able to tell you what wheel/tyre combo they have on their hatchbacks ... which might help you decide.

I use car-bibles to work out wheel/tyre combinations when going up or down in rim and diameter sizes.

And remember, not all profiles are available in all tyre sizes, which is why some people go to 17 or 18 inches as it's impossible to get the right combinations ... and the rarer the size, then more £££s!!

Having seen your other thread I think you've already got the best wheels on your car.
They certainly command a high price on eBay, and if fitted with good quality tyres you won't find anything that makes the car handle better.
Of course, looks are subjective, but manufacturers do a lot of work to make sure that whatever they put on their cars suit them. It's unlikely that something off Halford's shelf will be an improvement.
You should also declare major mods like (very obviously) different wheels to your insurers too, or in the event of an accident they could get ar$ey about paying up.
I stuggle to understand why anyone would want to pay more to go slower, so I guess it begs the question "what are you aiming to achieve?"

well 1 i wouldn't get anything off Halford's shelf that's for sure, and 2 i just want to go a bit wider and lighter wheels and a tad lower to make it handle better, not that there is anything wrong with the wheels on my car i just want a different style

way up the pro's and con's 1st, you will be suprised how many con's there is. for example "wide tyres on a dry road" (good), "wide tyres on a very wet road" (bad, high risk of aqua planning) don't forget you don't have independant active suspension like a chelsea tractor and live in a country that as more days of rain than days of sunshine.

To go lower you change the suspension, not the wheels/tyres ... all that does is alter the diameter and then messes up your speedo, etc.

I know you change the suspension to go lower and I'm staying to 16" wheels but 8" wide with the same profile to give them a bit of poke,
Im a drifter or was till I got my 206cc so I know a bit about modding a car I just wanted to know if 8" wide would fit without playing with the arches

Hi, i have 16"alloys with 205/45/16 tyres. I find it a very hard and bumpy ride. What can i do/change to make it a smoother ride? Can we fit 205/50/16 so there is more tyre and bounce?
