Clarion radio making beeping noise

When i switch the radio on, all i get is an constant (loud) beeping sound. The display indicates all is well (radio station or cd track etc), but no sound other than this 'beeping'.
This happened yesterday when I was caught in heavy traffic on the M1 yesterday. I took out a cd and it felt hot, although my car was not overheating. Then it couldn't find any station. Gave it til this morning, but still no joy.
Could it have blown a fuse or something to do with the audio?
Please help, as I don't want to replace it and poss lose the display and steering paddle controls. :(

radio could make this sound when it's need a telecoding. This operation can make anyone, who gets peugeot planet 2000 and a diag adaptor for Peugeot.
