Few issues with new car...

Post by myboyolliepop »

First of all, hello everyone - first time on the site, hope everyone is well :big-grin:

I've recently bought a peugeot 206 cc and have a few questions as I bought it knowing it needs a few bits done to it! First of all, the previous owner used a non-peugeot back box on the exhaust and so the exhaust pipe is a lot smaller than the hole into the back box - making me sound like a boy racer  - Are you able to use parts from a normal 206 of the same year on the cc?

Secondly, I have a loud rattle coming from the boot when going over bumps (only when the roof is up) - does anybody know what this is as me and my dad have spent ages tightening things but it doesnt seem to be helping! There is also a rattle when the roof is down coming from the windscreen arches?

Lastly - the alarm seems to be extremely enthuastic and goes off even if its windy - is there any way to make this less sensitive as its slightly annoying - especailly when i live in a street full of cats who like to sleep on top of my car!

Sorry for the million questions, determined to bring this car up to the best it can be!

Cheers guys,

Ollie

Hi Ollie & welcome to our forum.
There are many parts that are interchangeable and some that fit, but aren't right.
The boot rattle could be anything, as there are a lot of moving parts in there. Check everything again including the moving parcel shelf and it's components. Also have a look at the rear axle & suspension, bearing in mind with the roof down you are less likely to hear rattles due to wind noise.

With the alarm, make sure the windows are fully up and all the heater vents and dash grilles are shut. The wind will blow through them and disturb the air in the car causing the ultra sonics to trigger. You also could switch them off on a windy night.
Cheers Col.
